The ingredients needed to make Chhole Matar Biryani:
  1. Prepare 700 gm Basmati Rice
  2. Prepare 400 gm Chickpeas canned ones
  3. Take 2 Bay Leaves
  4. Get 2 Cinnamon sticks small

  6. Take 1 tsp Caraway Seeds
  7. Prepare 2 tsp Red chilli powder

  11. Make ready 1 small bunch Coriander Leaves finely chopped
  12. Make ready 1 small bunch Mint Leaves chopped
  13. Prepare 4-5 tbsp Oil
  14. Make ready 2 Onions thinly sliced
  15. Get 2 tsp Ginger garlic paste
  16. Get 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  17. Take 1 tsp Cumin powder
  18. Get 1 tbsp Coriander powder
  19. Make ready 1 cup boiled Green Peas

Start with boiling the white peas. You will have to soak the chickpeas in water overnight. Add them in a pressure cooker along with some water, salt, a pinch of baking soda and turmeric. Chana pulao recipe with step by step photos.

Instructions to make Chhole Matar Biryani:
  1. Boil rice using all the masalas just as you do for biryani, drain and keep aside. Heat butter or ghee. Saute the ginger garlic paste and the onions until done.
  2. Add chickpeas, boiled green peas and the other ingredients as well including the beaten curd. If you are using the dry ones, pressure cook them but take care not to over boil. They should not be too soft or mushy. Cover and cook for around 5 to 10 minutes.
  3. Now add cooked rice and mix well. Simmer on a low heat for about 15 minutes or so. Garnish and serve hot with any raita.
  4. I have used canned Chickpeas for this recipe. If you are using dry variety, soak them in enough water overnight for a yummy Biryani.
