Chana dal recipe - Simple, healthy, delicious and quick to make chana dal fry. Dal is one of the most basic dish in a Indian meal. Steps to make Chana dal fara (bhakosa):
- To begin making the Dal Fara Recipe, soak 250 gms chana dal for four to five hours.
- Make a coarsely ground yet fine paste of all dals in a mixer grinder. Now mix the dry masalas, garlic, ginger and chillies and salt as required. (Add salt only when you are all ready to fill the paste in the puri else it will become watery)
- Add red chilli powder according to your taste.
- Meanwhile prepare the dough by adding 1/2 kg whole wheat flour, 2-3 tbsp refined oil(moyan), water and salt.
- Make thick puri out of the dough and add the dal paste on one side of the puri and cover with the other side.
- Boil some water into a big vessel and put them into a hot water for about 10-15 minutes, switch off the stove and allow them to cool down.
- Cut into desired shape.
- The next step is to fry the faras. Heat oil in a kadhai/wok and add jeera, heeng, curry leaves, mustard seeds, Let the jeera crackle and then add chopped onions, stir for a bit and then add fara.
- Once it is done, garnish with fresh coriander and it is ready to be served.
- Serve Dal Fara on it's own with tomato chutney, or tomato ketchup as a side dish with your delicious Indian meal.
